PARKING PERMITS

A. General Information

NO OVERNIGHT (2AM – 6AM) PARKING IS ALLOWED IN ANY CAMPUS LOT, WITHOUT A PARKING PERMIT INDICATING THAT THE VEHICLE BELONGS TO A RESIDENT OR AN AUTHORIZED OVERNIGHT VISITOR WHO HAS BEEN ISSUED A TEMPORARY PARKING PERMIT. VISITOR AND TEMPORARY PARKING PERMITS CAN BE OBTAINED AT THE PUBLIC SAFETY BOOTH AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE.

  1. Parking permits are the property of Ramapo College and are issued based on the applicant's status with the College.
  2. They are non-transferable to another party and are valid only on the vehicle to which they are assigned.
  3. Only commuter students may purchase an additional permit. Resident students are limited to the purchase of one permit.*
  4. Lost or stolen permits must be reported immediately to the Public Safety Office located in Room C-102.*
  5. Non-compliance with the rules and regulations of the College and the laws of the State of New Jersey may result in a citation, forfeiture of parking privileges, immobilization and/or towing/impoundment of the vehicle.
  6. All vehicles must have a decal or other form of official authorization to park on campus.
  7. Valid parking decals are to be visibly affixed on the inside of the rear left-side window.
  8. Specific parking spaces are not assigned except as indicated in designated areas.

PLEASE NOTE THE POLICY CHANGE BELOW

ALL student vehicles parked on campus must have a valid parking permit (decal) permanently affixed to the lower right corner of the left-side rear window. Parking permits obtained during the fall term are valid in the spring term. A student entering for the first time in the spring term must obtain a spring only parking permit. A new parking permit must be obtained for the summer term. There will be a ONE week grace period at the beginning of the semester before summonses will be issued.

Note: The New Jersey Division of Taxation passed legislation that requires New Jersey Colleges and Universities to access, collect, and remit a seven percent (7%) sales tax on parking fees charged to students who live OFF-CAMPUS. Students living on-campus are exempt from the tax.

Note: If a student chooses to park a vehicle on campus without a valid parking permit, they risk being issued a summons and/or booting or towing of the vehicle at the violators own expense.

Ramapo College has partnered with ThePermitStore.com to provide a convenient online method of obtaining a parking permit. Students no longer have to wait in line at the Public Safety Office to apply for or pick up a parking permit. Once a student has completed the application process, the parking permit will be mailed directly to the address designated by the student.

PARKING BILLING POLICY

The parking fee is not paid when a student applies for a parking permit. The parking fee automatically appears as a charge on a student’s term bill.

The first day to apply for a summer term parking permit at ThePermitStore.com is mid-May.

The first day to apply for a Fall/Spring academic parking permit at ThePermitStore.com is mid-December for Spring and early August for Fall passes.

Students, who do not intend to park a vehicle on campus at any time during the school year, can submit a Parking Fee Waiver Form to the Bursar’s Office. Upon receipt of the waiver form, the Bursar’s Office will verify that a student has not applied for a parking permit. When verification is completed, a credit will be posted to the student’s account. If a student has applied for a parking permit, the waiver request will not be processed. s

Students may not apply for a parking permit and then submit a Parking Fee Waiver Form or submit a Parking Fee Waiver Form and then apply for a parking permit.

If the Waiver Form is not submitted by the published deadline, the student is responsible for the parking fee charge, which will remain on the student’s account. To view Critical Financial Deadlines, click the Deadlines button below.

Parking permits are available ONLY at ThePermitStore.com. All students must apply for a permit online. To apply for a parking permit, click ThePermitStore.com link below and follow the Parking Permit Application Instructions.

To access the parking permit application:

  • Log on directly to ThePermitStore.com website at www.ThePermitStore.com.
  • Enter Ramapo as your parking destination, then, click Submit.
  • On the search: results page, click on Ramapo College of New Jersey.
  • On the home: option selection page, click Apply.
  • On the login page, read the Terms and Conditions statement and click I Agree. Then, enter your Email Address and Password. Then, click Continue.

To complete the parking permit application:

  • Step 1: personal information: Complete all of the required fields. Then, click Continue.
  • Step 2: select permit(s): Select the permit you wish to obtain by clicking on the appropriate BUY button.
  • Step 3: vehicle information: Complete all required fields, then, click Add This Vehicle.
  • Step 4: payment: Click Continue (No Payment Necessary)
  • Finish: receipt page: Click Finish.

Students will receive an email confirmation from ThePermitStore.com confirming the creation of their account. When a student receives the parking permit in the mail, they must go to ThePermitStore.com to activate the permit.

The College does not provide a fall only parking permit. All students who are registered for the fall term are charged the annual parking fee rate. Students who are graduating in January are the only exception. These students will receive a refund, equivalent to the spring parking fee charge. The Bursar’s Office will mail this refund check in mid-February.

Students with a State-issued handicapped license plate, or placard, or temporary permit issued by the College Health Services are permitted to park in reserved handicapped parking areas or "temporarily disabled" parking spaces, providing they have a current College parking decal.

All students, faculty/staff, and visitors who bring a motor vehicle onto the Ramapo College campus are subject to the rules and regulations of the College and the laws of the State of New Jersey. It is the responsibility of all applicants seeking a parking permit to read either the Ramapo College Motor Vehicle Information, Rules, and Regulations publication or the online documentation at the Public Safety Department link below. Magnetic Cards for Lots A-1, A-2 and A-3 are available in room C-102.

GUEST PARKING

Whenever a person comes on campus with a vehicle that does not have a properly displayed parking decal and wishes to park their vehicle, he/she must report to the Main Public Safety Booth and obtain a "One Day Parking Pass." He/she must then follow the Booth Guard’s instructions on where to park.

Regulations have been established to provide for the parking and movement of vehicles on campus. Compliance with these regulations is greatly appreciated and is necessary to provide a safe and orderly campus.
