The Public Safety Department at Ramapo College is committed to supporting the educational program at the college. It consists of twenty-eight Public Safety Officers who are non-sworn but are uniformed and who perform patrol duties employing motor vehicles, bicycle and on foot.
Essentially, Ramapo College Public Safety is service-oriented, employing a community policing proactive approach to the identification and resolution of problems on campus. In order to ensure that Public Safety is successfully dealing with issues of concern to the College Community, but especially to the students, we have entered into a partnership with the Student Government Association to identify concerns and projects. As a result of that partnership Public Safety is actively investigating Silent Witness reports and Citizen Compliant forms received on the College's Public Safety website.
Ramapo College is currently changing from a principally commuter college to a principally residential college. This involves the construction of three additional residential hall units and an expansion of the Sports and Recreation Center to support that transition. The Public Safety Office will also continue to change in response to the needs of the college and its community.
