Overview


The Ramapo College Emergency Medical Service (EMS) is a campus based organization that provides emergency medical care at the Basic Life Support (BLS) level of care. EMS is staffed by staffed by certified Emergency Medical Technicians, First Responders, and Certified Emergency Vehicle Operators (Drivers). All members of EMS volunteer their time and efforts to the Ramapo College community.

Services Provided
  • Respond to all requests for emergency care which occur at Ramapo College of New Jersey. This service is provided in cooperation with the Ramapo College Campus Security Department, Mahwah Police Department, the Center for Health & Counseling Services, Emergency On-Call Counselors, On-Call Administrators, local emergency services and other local authorities.
  • Provide a high level of emergency care regardless of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, or sexual preference of all injured or ill persons.
  • Promote the good and welfare of college life through education and example.

Join RCEMS

Ambulance - External ViewRCEMS is seeking volunteers to join this vital community service. We are always seeking responsible individuals to be part of our service. We want to make you part of our team.If you are not a certified Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, First Responders, or Certified Emergency Vehicle Operators (Drivers) we can provide or sponsor the training at no cost to you. In return, we ask for one (1) semester of active duty for RCEMS (a minimum of 12 hours per week.)Interested in becoming an Emergency Medical Technician - Basic?

This training is provided through the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute: Police, Fire and EMS Academies located in Mahwah, a short distance from the college campus. The program is composed of 120 hour United States Department of Transportation's Emergency Medical Technician-Basic training. This course will provide the skills and training necessary to save lives. Upon successful completion of this course you are eligible for four (4) college credits at Ramapo College of New Jersey.

To join Ramapo College Emergency Medical Services you must be a member of our Faculty, Staff or a currently enrolled student, undergraduate or graduate, attending Ramapo College of New Jersey. Applications are available at the RCEMS Office.

Training Schedules
Please contact the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute- EMS Academy for schedules. Classes are held each semester and during the summer. You can contact the EMT Program Coordinator at 201-785-6026.

If you are interested in training to become an EMT-B and have joined RCEMS, please contact us so that we can authorize the NJ State Training Fund to reimburse the Academy for the cost of the program.
