- Organized Computer "Shut-Downs," where club members went around to many of the computer labs to turn off idle computers in an attempt to save energy.
Spring 2008
- Monthly late night dining, which implemented biodegradable food utensils, cups and plates. The group turned off the lights in the seating section, to cut energy cost for that evening. Limited organic selection was also served.
- Two "month-wide" Energy Challenges in the residence halls. Dorms competed in energy, water, waste and recycling savings. In February, it was between Pine and Linden, and the combined energy savings were the equivalent of $5,000.
- Door-to-Door recycling pickups by student recycling program. Allowed students to take dormitory recycling into their own hands, and provided a convenience for residents.
- Planted Havemeyer Edible Garden. Recognized under our group's name, and invited other organizations to work with 1STEP in cultivating it.
- Investigated the Laurel Hall computer lab; encouraged all computer labs to more closely monitor inactive computers, and to put them in "sleep mode."
- Pushed for a successful change in C-store policy. Bags are no longer given out freely. Reusable bags are now strongly encouraged.
- Dump-n-Run: During move-out, collected reusable/recyclable unwanted items from residents.
- Successful Earth Week; spread awareness, along with Environmental Alliance.
