"Today, more than ever, the benefits of a liberal arts education - the ability to think and analyze critically and to communicate clearly - are the foundations for a successful career."
Kiplinger's studied more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities, using measures including the percentage of freshmen scoring 600 or higher on the verbal and math components of the SAT, student/faculty ratio, admission rates and graduation rates. In addition, schools were ranked based on cost before and after financial aid was factored in, the average cost for a student with need after subtracting grants, the average cost for a student without need after subtracting non-need based grants, the average percentage of need met by aid and the average debt a student accumulates before graduation.
