A Fred Astaire Songbook at Ramapo College

(Mahwah) - Jazz at the Berrie Center presents “Singing Astaire:  A Fred Astaire Songbook” Saturday, February 9 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey.

The performance features the vocal talents of Hilary Kole, Christopher Gines and Ronny Whyte accompanied by Steve Doyle on bass and David Meade on drums.  They will bring the music Astaire made famous to the Berrie Center from Birdland, where the show sold out night after night.  The late Fred Astaire introduced many classic standards on film – music by Gershwin, Porter, Mercer, Arlen and Kern.

Tickets cost $26, $23 and $20 for adults and $15 for children under 17.  Senior citizens, New Jersey Jazz Society and WBGO Radio members will receive a five percent discount off regular ticket prices.

The Sharp Theater is located at the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus.  For more information call 201.684.7844.

This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
