A riveting performance at the 1969 Woodstock festival thrust Havens into the limelight, as his improvised song “Freedom” became the anthem for an entire generation. He was no stranger to performing at that time, however; Havens had organized his friends into doo-wop groups on the streets of Brooklyn from an early age. Tickets for Richie Havens are $30, $27 and $24 for adults and $18 for children under 17. Senior citizens are eligible for a five percent discount. The Sharp Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus. For more information call 201.684.7844. This program is made possible in parts by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. [ return to top ] |
