Featuring Frigg to Perform at Ramapo College(Mahwah) - The Ramapo Mountain Stage series presents Nordic Fiddle Fest! featuring Frigg Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater. Combining elements of their respective folk traditions from Finland and Norway with touches of American Appalachian and country music, this seven-piece band has been dazzling festival audiences in Scandinavia and the U.S. creating a phenomenal buzz among listeners and fellow musicians. The band has appeared on Garrison Keeler’s show, “A Prairie Home Companion.” Frigg marks the emergence of a new generation of musicians from a pair of prominent fiddling families from Finland and Norway. The basic Frigg sound consists of a wall of fiddles backed by the strumming of the guitar and cittern, with a touch of dobro, providing a distinctively bluegrass flavor. Tickets for Nordic Fiddle Fest! are $24, $20 or $15 for adults, $12 for children under 17 and a five percent discount off regular ticket prices for senior citizens. The Sharp Theater is located at the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus. For more information call 201.684.7844. At this performance, Russ Berrie Award for Making a Difference award recipients will be recognized in honor of the late Russ Berrie’s birthday. This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. [ return to top ] |
