Sabath ’93 and (Mahwah) – The Ramapo College Foundation’s 2007 Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner, to be held Saturday, March 3 at the Rockleigh Country Club, will honor four distinguished citizens for their leadership and commitment to higher education: John D. McMahon, president and CEO of Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc.; A.J. Sabath, chief of staff to the president of the New Jersey Senate and an alumnus of Ramapo College; and Lawrence and Theresa Salameno, key supporters of Ramapo College who are instrumental in the establishment of an on-campus Spiritual Center. The Bud Maltin Orchestra, whose repertoire includes rock, disco, swing, Motown, Latin, reggae, standards and R&B, will provide entertainment. The annual benefit dinner raises funds for student scholarships, college capital projects and faculty research. The evening will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner program, dancing and a silent auction. Sabath, of Cherry Hill, NJ and a 1993 graduate of Ramapo College, is the chief of staff to the president of the New Jersey Senate and is the only alumnus of the college currently serving on its Board of Trustees. He has served as commissioner of labor and workforce development for the State of New Jersey and was director of constituent relations and intergovernmental affairs and senior research associate for the New Jersey Senate Majority Office and the New Jersey General Assembly. Sabath is a member of the State Board of Examiners for master plumbers and served as an executive member of the Capital Planning Commission and a board member of the School Construction Corporation. Lawrence and Theresa Salameno, of Allendale, NJ are key supporters of Ramapo College and are instrumental in the establishment of an on-campus Spiritual Center. Mrs. Salameno is a member of the Board of Governors of the Ramapo College Foundation. She grew up in England and graduated with honors as a certified chef and earned a degree in hospitality management. Her many clients included the Queen of England. After practicing law for several years, Mr. Salameno began his career in the financial services industry with Merrill Lynch & Co. in 1976. He is executive vice-president and director of Permal Group, and director of Permal Group Ltd., Legg Mason Companies. Mr. and Mrs. Salameno are trustees of Stonehill College and have adopted two parish schools in Boston. [ return to top ] |
