(PDF) | (DOC) | (TIFF) | Get Adobe Acrobat Reader Ramapo Art Professor Featured in Cultural Center Exhibit(Mahwah) – Shalom Gorewitz, a professor of communications media at Ramapo College of New Jersey, will exhibit several of his projects at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center in Manhattan beginning May 25 and continuing through July 2. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, May 25 from 6 – 8 p.m. The solo exhibition will feature Psalm 121, a film made possible by a Ramapo College Teaching, Learning, and Technology Roundtable grant. The film was created specifically for the Video iPod as a virtual amulet. The images were mostly collected on the Lower East Side and Ellis Island. In the film, Psalm 121 is chanted in a Sephardic style by Alain Checroun. Other works to be projected and installed for the exhibition include Trivial Topographies, Bush Blinks and Soft Targets. The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center is a Puerto Rican/Latino cultural institution that reflects the diversity of the lower East Side of Manhattan. The Center is located at 107 Suffolk Street; gallery hours are 4 – 9 p.m. weekdays. |
