The Antares Quartet to Perform at Ramapo College of New Jersey

Photo: The Antares Quartet(Mahwah) – The Antares Quartet will perform on Sunday, November 6 at 3 p.m. in the Adler Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey.  Hailed by The Chicago Tribune for “powerful virtuosity and striking razor-sharp ensemble play,” Antares was named First Prize Winner of the 2002 Concert Artists Guild International Competition.

The Quartet draws from a colorful repertoire for violin, cello, piano and clarinet, creating programs ranging from the traditional to the contemporary.  Its passionate advocacy for the music of living composers, including the commissioning of new music, has earned Antares its second ASCAP/CMA Award for Adventuresome Programming.

Since its founding in 1995, The Antares Quartet has taken part in many festivals and master classes organized by various institutions, including the Association Pro Quartet - Centre Européen de Musique de Chambre.  All members of the Quartet have studied with Piero Farulli, an alto with the Quartetto Italiano, at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana of Sienna, Italy.   The Quartet’s musicians thrive on conveying emotion through music.

Tickets for The Antares Quartet are $21 for all seats.  The Adler Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus.  For more information call 201.684.7844.

This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
