New Jersey Tap Ensemble Will Perform At Ramapo College

Photo: NJ Tapp Ensemble(Mahwah) – The New Jersey Tap Ensemble will perform on Saturday, October 15 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey.

Take a joy-filled ride from Harlem to Hollywood as the New Jersey Tap Ensemble recreates and celebrates the explosive energy and the creative contributions of African-American artists from the street corner to the stage and screen.  This high-spirited tribute to the Harlem Renaissance and the days of the Cotton Club and the Apollo Theater will have patrons dancing in their seats.

The New Jersey Tap Ensemble is New Jersey's first statewide non-profit tap dance company.  Founded by professional tap dancer Deborah Mitchell in 1994, the organization is not a school for tap dance, but a company whose mission is to preserve and perpetuate the art form of rhythm tap dancing.  The mission is fulfilled through the development of new tap works, concert performances, community outreach and programs in arts education.

Tickets for the New Jersey Tap Ensemble are $23 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and $15 for youth.  The Sharp Theater is located at the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus.  For more information call 201.684.7844.

This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
