A Musical Journey of the French Horn Presented at Ramapo College

(Mahwah) – “Out of the Forest and into the Concert Hall:  A Musical Journey of the French Horn” will be presented Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. in the York Room on the campus of Ramapo College of New Jersey.  The performance is part of the College’s York Room Salon Series.

Lisa Pike on French horn and Elizabeth Rogers on piano will trace the development of the horn as it evolved from a tool used in the hunt to a magnificent instrument for composition.  The works selected for the performance include Schumann, Dauprat and Amram.

Pike and Rogers have been performing together for the past fifteen years.  They gave weekly performances for rescue workers and volunteers at St. Paul’s Chapel at Ground Zero after 9/11.

Tickets for “Out of the Forest and into the Concert Hall” are $10 and include refreshments.  The York Room is located in the Birch Mansion of Ramapo College of New Jersey.  For more information call 201.684.7844.

This program is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
