Ramapo Student Awarded Fulbright Scholarship
(Mahwah) – Stephanie Olberg, an exchange student from Germany
taking international business courses at Ramapo College of New Jersey,
has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship by Germany’s Fulbright
Kommission in partnership with the Fulbright
Scholar Program in the United States.
Olberg
is enrolled at the University of Dresden
in Germany. Following
the fall semester at Ramapo College, she will return to the university
to complete her degree. She plans to pursue a master’s
degree in the United States. Her career interests are international
business and international management.
The
Fulbright Program, the U.S. government's flagship program in international
educational exchange, was proposed to the U.S. Congress in 1945 by
then freshman Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. Fulbright
grants are made to U.S. citizens and nationals of other countries
for a variety of educational activities, primarily university lecturing,
advanced research, graduate study and teaching in elementary and
secondary schools. Since the program’s inception, more
than 250,000 participants --chosen for their leadership potential--
have had the opportunity to observe each other’s political,
economic and cultural institutions.
Olberg
is living on campus at Ramapo College during
her semester as an exchange student. She resides in Dessau, Germany.
