Cellist
Stephen Framil to Perform at Ramapo College
(Mahwah) – Cellist Stephen Framil will perform on Sunday,
December 5 at 3 p.m. in the York Room on the campus of Ramapo College
of New Jersey. The performance is part of the College’s
York Room Salon Series.
Framil, an internationally
renowned cellist, has soloed with, among
others, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra in Hungary, the Manila
Symphony Orchestra (Philippines) and the National Philharmonic
of Moldova, and is distinguished as the first American cellist
to perform in Hanoi. He recently
recorded the two Hayden Cello Concertos
with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra for Centaur Records,
as well as the complete J.S. Bach Suites for Solo Cello for Radio
4 Hong Kong.
The cellist
is the cofounder and director of chamber music for the Napa Valley
Festival of Music, and served as a professor of music at Andrews
University. He earned his doctoral degree in music
from Indiana University. He has held artist and faculty positions
at the Rockland Summer Institute in New York
and the Hong Kong Youth Music Festival.
