Romeo and Juliet Scheduled for a Slate
of Performances at Ramapo College
(Mahwah) -- The theater program of Ramapo College of New Jersey will present Romeo and Juliet, the Shakespeare play that has inspired other playwrights and composers for centuries, November 11 - 13 and 17 -20. Mary Ellen Allison, an associate professor of theater at the College, will direct the play.
The enduring tale of Romeo and Juliet never fails to engage, given its inevitable tragedy. This production showcases the talents of Ramapo College theater program students while remaining faithful to the classic.
Shakespeare wrote the play at a relatively early point in his literary career. This tragic drama of the star-crossed" young lovers is viewed as an extraordinary work. Romeo and Juliet was an experimental stage piece at the time of its composition, featuring several radical departures from long-standing conventions.
The production will be performed Thursday through Saturday, November 11 - 13 and Wednesday through Saturday, November 17 - 20 at 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater, located in the Berrie Center for Visual and Performing Arts on the campus of Ramapo College.
