Who Killed Jesus? is Topic of a Discussion
at Ramapo College
(Mahwah) - Who Killed Jesus?" is the topic of a discussion presented by Dr. Anthony T. Padovano, a theologian and distinguished professor of literature and philosophy at Ramapo College of New Jersey. The discussion, in the historical context of the arrest, trial, and execution of Jesus, will be held on Tuesday, April 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the York Room of The Mansion. The public is invited to attend.
In the controversy surrounding Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, historical texts have been revisited for an analysis and interpretation of who was responsible for Jesus's death. Padovano's presentation will be influenced by his training as a theologian at the S.T.D. Georgian University and as a philosopher at St. Thomas International University, both in Rome, and by his doctoral studies in literature at Fordham University in New York.
Collections of his personal and professional papers, the Padovano Papers," are in the archives of Notre Dame University. Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey read his Lifetime Achievement into the Congressional Record of the 104th Congress in 1995. Padovano has lectured internationally and is the author of 27 books, including three award-winning plays, and 150 articles. His work has been translated into Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. He is the appointed Catholic pastor of Inclusive Community, where Catholics and Protestants worship together. Padovano is a former president and active ambassador of CORPUS, the National Association for a Married Priesthood.
