Commemoration of Yom Hashoah/Holocaust Remebrance
Day to Feature Newly Commissioned Service
(Mahwah) - In commemoration of Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), the Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies at Ramapo College and Beth Haverim of Mahwah are co-sponsoring the premier of a specially commissioned service, Never Forget," at Beth Haverim (280 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah, NJ 07430) on April 19 at 7 p.m.
The service was composed by Jeff Marder, keyboardist of Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas, and will feature Beth Haverim's Rabbi Joel Mosbacher, Cantor Barbara Lieberstein and the congregation's adult choir, directed and accompanied by Jeff Marder. Additionally, members of the Ramapo College community, Beth Haverim congregants and Holocaust survivors will recite a selection of poetry and readings.
As part of this year's Yom HaShoah commemoration, the Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies is also sponsoring a day trip to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, April 18th. The inclusive cost is $30 ($15 for students) and members of the public are welcome. The trip will leave from the Ramapo College student parking lot at 6:45 a.m. and return at 9 p.m.
An integral part of Ramapo College, the Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies encourages and assists persons of all ages in learning the history and lessons of the Holocaust and other genocides in the hope that through education such tragedies can be prevented from occurring again.
