Matryoshka and Tsar-An Experience of Russian
Culture From Peasant to Imperial Court
(Mahwah) - Ramapo College of New Jersey will celebrate Russian culture in a classical and folk performance, Matryoshka and Tsar, Sunday, February 1 at 3 p.m in the Sharp Theater. Violinist Vladimir Tsypin of the New York Philharmonic; Susan Walters, piano soloist for the New York City Ballet; and Anatoliy Panchoshniy, basso and former soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic, will collaborate with folk duo Tamara Volskaya and Anatoliy Trofimov on domra and bayan.
The repertory includes Sonata for Violin and Piano, opus 13, by Anton Rubinstein, Concerto for Domra by Nikolai Budashkin, Modest Musorgski's The Flea, as well as other folk compositions.
Tickets are $21 for general admission, $18 for seniors, and $12 for students. The Sharp Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for Performing and Visual Arts on the Ramapo College campus. For more information call 201.684.7844.
