The Nutcracker, a Treasured Seasonal Favorite, Comes to Ramapo College
(Mahwah) The beloved holiday classic, The Nutcracker, will be presented by the American Repertory Ballet at The Berrie Center at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Offered for the first time at the College, this full-scale production will be performed Friday, December 12 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 13 at 2 and 8 p.m. in the Sharp Theater.
The Nutcracker has been lavishly re-imagined by Graham Lustig, the acclaimed artistic director of the American Repertory Ballet, founded in 1954 and considered New Jerseys premiere ballet company. Lustigs genius infuses this full-scale production from choreography to sets to gorgeous costumes. Complementing Lustigs magical production are designs by Zack Brown, lighting by Alex Nichols, and of course, Tchaikovskys classic music.
Named artistic director of the American Repertory Ballet in 1999, Lustig is an internationally acclaimed choreographer. He is known for his productions of Cinderella, The Shrew and A Midsummer Nights Dream. The London natives current works include Stardust for the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company and Peter Pan, given its U.S. premier by the Fort Worth Dallas Ballet Company.
Tickets are $23 for adults, $20 for seniors and $12 for students with valid ID. The Sharp Theater is located in the Angelica and Russ Berrie Center for the Performing and Visual Arts. For tickets or information, call 201.684.7844.
