Ramapo River Day Activities Give Young Biologists Plenty To Do

(Mahwah) – Activities for students in the second grade and above are on the schedule for The Third Annual Ramapo River Day, to be held Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Directed by biologist Angela Cristini, Ph.D., Ramapo River Day is a program that revolves around water activities including water quality testing, fly casting lessons, biological sampling, botany walks and fish release to stock the river. The program is appropriate for students in grades two and above. Middle school and high school classes and clubs are especially welcome, as are scout troops and packs. Scouts could earn fishing and environmental badges for their participation.

All activities will take place on the Ramapo River in Mahwah. Directions: Take Darlington Avenue to the end. Make a right turn onto Route 202. Travel an eighth of a mile to Halifax Road. Make a left turn on Halifax and drive past the tennis courts to the bridge. Park on the right side before the bridge.

Ramapo River Day is sponsored by the Ramapo College faculty, Trout Unlimited, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection
