Ramapo College Announces Dates For Commerce Bank Summer Concert Series
(Mahwah) The Big Band Swing Machine, Eileen Ivers, Total Soul Motown Review and the Party Dolls will headline the Commerce Bank Summer Concert Series on the Ramapo College of New Jersey campus. The four concerts, all on Thursdays, will take place at the Band Shell, beginning at 8 p.m. The first concert, on Thursday, July 10, will end with a fireworks display. In case of rain, the fireworks will take place on July 17. Admission is free; parking is $5 per car.
In addition to Commerce Bank, the series is sponsored by The Friends of Ramapo, the Ramapo College Alumni Association and McBride Enterprises. Eileen Ivers
Eileen Ivers has been called a sensation by Billboard magazine and the Jimi Hendrix of the violin by The New York Times. Having established herself as the pre-eminent exponent of the Irish fiddle in the world today, Ivers recording credits include numerous contemporary and traditional albums and movie scores. She has toured throughout the world and has appeared on network television both in the U.S. and abroad. Her last record, Crossing the Bridge, on Sony Classical was hailed by Frank McCourt, author of Angelas Ashes, as starling in its geographic variety: Spain, Africa, West Indies, Cuba and Ireland, always Ireland. Total Soul Motown Review
Total Soul is an 11-piece R&B, soul, classic disco and Motown-style group, performing hit songs of the great artists from the 60s through today. The music is brought to life with a mix of four-part vocal harmony, a soul-driven rhythm section and Hot, Hot, Hot horns. Their four-man vocal front will mesmerize audiences with slick dance moves and smooth harmonies, a la The Temptations and The Four Tops. Each singer is featured as a lead vocalist, supercharging the crowd with their vocal expertise. The band plays and dances throughout the performance, encouraging audience members from the crowd to join them on the stage.
