The Village at Ramapo College Features Townhouse-Style Residences

(Mahwah) – The first of three residential townhouse-style “quads,” each slated to house 175 -180 students, opened at Ramapo College of New Jersey earlier this month. Part of a residential development for juniors and seniors, apartments in The Village offer students private bedrooms (four to a unit), fully equipped kitchens complete with pantries, living/dining areas, ADA- (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant bathrooms, the latest technology, lots of light from expansive windows (floor-to-ceiling in the dining area) and ample storage. All units are fully sprinklered and furniture meets strict CAL-133 flammability guidelines.

Each bedroom is wired for voice/video/data, as is the living/dining area. Access to the front door is by card access, while bedrooms have a programmable keypad lock. Six of the units (housing 24 students) are equipped for students with disabilities. All units are accessible to people with disabilities, with 22 elevators in the complex.

Students living in The Village must commit to living in a sustainable manner by recycling and using “green” cleaning products. The Thomases Commons, named for early Ramapo supporters, Fred and Florence Thomases, houses the mail room, laundry facilities, a spacious lounge with fireplace, a convenience store and office/conference room complex. The convenience store will include environment-friendly products and customers must provide their own College-issued canvas bags when shopping.

The second of the three quads in The Village is set to open in November; the third will be ready in time for the start of the spring semester. When completed, The Village complex will house 528 students.
