The Band Shell at Ramapo College to Rock to the Louisiana Bayou Rhythms of Zydeco-A-Go-Go
(Mahwah) Zydeco-A-Go-Go, a five-piece dance band specializing in zydeco, Cajun, New Orleans rhythm and blues and vintage Louisiana rock and roll, will perform their bayou rhythms Thursday, August 1 at 8 p.m. in the Commerce Bank Summer Concert Series at Ramapo College of New Jersey. The concert will be held outdoors at the Band Shell.
Powered by a pumping accordion, the rhythm of a washboard plus drums, bass and guitar, the music will carry you off to a Louisiana roadhouse dance floor, complete with humidity, dust and smoke, the aroma of a pot of gumbo cookin and folks laughin and carryin on, says Peter Eshelman, accordion-player and vocalist. During a short break, there will be a lesson in Zydeco and Cajun dance steps for anyone interested.
The concert is free; there is a $5 charge for parking. For more information or to join the Friends of Ramapo, call (201) 684-7115.
In addition to Commerce Bank, the series is sponsored by the Friends of Ramapo, the Ramapo College Alumni Association and McBride Agency, Realtors.
