Salute to Women in the Arts Presents Exhibit
at Ramapo College
(Mahwah) -- A juried exhibition by Salute to Women in the Arts will open in the library galleries at Ramapo College of New Jersey Wednesday, February 21. Salute at Ramapo: Selections 2001 will feature works in various media by members of the largest art organization in New Jersey. The exhibition is in conjunction with Womens History Month and an exhibit of the work of Nancy Spero opening that same day in the Berrie Centers Kresge and Pascal galleries, also at Ramapo College. An opening reception is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit runs through March 23.
Salute at Ramapo will present the work of 15 New Jersey artists working in mixed media, oil, acrylic, watercolors, photography, computer imaging, pastels, and fiber. Regine Basha, cultural affairs officer for the Canadian Consulate General and arts editor of City New York magazine, served as the juror.
Salute to Women in the Arts was formed in May 1974 by a small group of enthusiastic and concerned feminists to recognize, support and "salute" the efforts and achievements of serious artists. The organization includes visual, literary and performing artists as well as patrons and supporters of the arts. Salute organizes exhibitions in such diverse settings as corporate headquarters, art centers, museums, galleries and universities. return to top
