Ramapo College To Present We Are Your Sisters
Story Relates the Experiences of Slave Women

(Mahwah) -- We Are Your Sisters, Blue Heron Theatre’s award-winning drama with music, which recounts the astonishing stories of African-American women who endured the degradation of slavery to meet the challenges of freedom, will be onstage in the Sharp Theater at Ramapo College of New Jersey Sunday, February 25 at 4:30 p.m.

We Are Your Sisters was inspired by the authentic words of former slave women and their experiences before, during and after the Civil War. This production melds these gripping stories with music and dance motifs inspired by African and American historical/cultural traditions, and uses the past to speak to contemporary issues of personal struggle, oppression and the meaning of freedom.

Directed by Darryl V. Jones, the drama was adapted for the stage by Stephanie von Hirschberg and Ardelle Striker from We Are Your Sisters: Black Women in the Nineteenth Century by Dorothy Sterling.

Tickets are $15 adults; $10 seniors; and $5 students and children under 18. For reservations, call 9201) 684-7844.
