Accomplishments and Challenges of Latinos in
New Jersey is Focus of Conference at Ramapo College
(Mahwah) -- A daylong conference, Latinos in New Jersey: Accomplishments and Challenges in the 21st Century, an exploration of significant contributions and persistent difficulties, is scheduled Friday, November 17 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Ramapo College of New Jersey in SC-136 (Alumni Lounge). An opening address, "From Where We Have Come, Where We Have to Go," by New Jersey Assemblywoman Nellie Pou, will lead off the conference.
Panelists include Patersons deputy mayor, Eli Burgos; Fernando Armstrong, regional director of the Bureau of the Census; Guadalupe Casillas, a New Jersey public defender; Arthur Ramirez, managing partner of The Christopher Company and chair of the Ramapo College Board of Trustees; noted artists, student leaders, and specialists in higher education, community education and career counseling. Panel topics will cover accomplishments in the Latino community, challenges confronted by Latino communities, and building alliances.
