Minolta and Ramapo College Foundation Present Summer Concert Series

(Mahwah) -- Bring your lawn chair, a carload of family and friends, and picnic under the stars at the Minolta Summer Music Festival, held at the Band Shell on the Ramapo College of New Jersey campus. The four concerts, all on Thursdays in July, begin at 8 p.m. The first concert, on Thursday, July 6, will end with a fireworks display.

In case of rain, concerts will be held in the gymnasium. Admission is free; parking is $5 per car. Food and refreshments are available for purchase. In addition to Minolta Corporation, support of the concerts is provided by Hudson United Bank, The Ramapo College Alumni Association, the Friends of Ramapo, and McBride Enterprises.

Thursday July 6
Fireworks Display and The Nuclear Whales Saxophone Orchestra
A musical treat for the whole family, the Nuclear Whales blends sophisticated musicianship with footloose choreography, ingenious special effects, and madcap comedy. This group also features the world’s largest saxophone. The concert will be followed by a fireworks display.

Thursday July 13
The Clancy Brothers and Cathie Ryan
The Clancy Brothers, who have been entertaining audiences since 1958, are the world’s best-known Irish singing group. The brothers capture audiences with songs about love and life. Cathie Ryan, an Irish–American singer/songwriter and former member of the vocal group Cherish the Ladies, joins them on this tour.

Thursday July 20
The Happenings
This worldwide favorite band exploded onto the music scene in the ‘60s with the hit See You in September, which Entertainment Magazine has listed in the top 100 summer songs of all time! This hit was quickly followed by Go Away Little Girl and I Got Rhythm. Their extraordinary vocal talent and unparalleled showmanship continue to consistently bring audiences to their feet everywhere they go.

Thursday July 27
The Tommy Gryce Quartet
This quartet features saxophonist Tony Williams and vocalists Pat Tandya and Lady CeCe Williams. Mr. Gryce is a member of the prominent Gryce family of musicians. They regularly appear at the Cape May Jazz Festival and at the famed Harlem Jazz Club, Showmans. His CD, Our Day Will Come, is a top seller here and on the West Coast. Join them for a romantic night of straight-ahead jazz.
