Vatican Official To Speak At Ramapo College Interreligious
Dialogue is His Topic
(Mahwah) -- Dr. Remi Hoeckman of Vatican City will address the topic, What is the Agenda of Interreligious Dialogue? Monday, April 3 at 7 p.m. in the Mansion York Room at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Rev. Hoeckman is the executive secretary of the Holy Sees Commission for Religious Relations With the Jews and a senior staff member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, where he serves as the full-time officer for Catholic-Jewish relations. Hoeckman travels worldwide addressing various aspects of Catholic-Jewish religious relations, including the Shoah (Holocaust).
A Roman Catholic priest, born and raised in Belgium, he earned a Doctor of Sacred Theology degree at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland where he specialized in ecumenical studies. He is a professor at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas in Rome and a visiting professor in many academic institutions around the world. Formerly, he was the director of the Center for Coordination of Research of the International Federation of Catholic Universities. He founded the Department of Ecumenical studies at St. Thomas Aquinas University in Rome and served in the Holy Sees Congregation for Catholic Education.
