Kudos to MALS
Bob Christopher, Ph.D., professor of literature, who has taught in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program since its inception and mentored four graduate students, was selected by the Association for Graduate Liberal Studies Programs for its 2000 National Faculty Award. He was honored at the October annual meeting of the association in Oakland, CA. The talk he presented was printed in the Journal for Graduate Liberal Studies.
Two recent MALS graduates, Betsy Panico and Connie Roessler, authored articles selected for publication in the Journal for Graduate Liberal Studies. Panico wrote an analytical book review of Alice Walkers Possessing the Secret of Joy; Roesslers article was an abridged version of her thesis on motherhood.
Another MALS graduate, Trish Williams, Ramapos assistant Web administrator, held three public screenings of Losing Tom, a documentary film. Completed as Williams thesis project for the MALS program, the film relates her fathers struggle with alcoholism, as experienced by family and friends. The film explores issues of addiction, death and dying, and family secrets. Visit the Web site www.losingtom.org for more information.
