Foundation Allocations- Spring 2000
Twice each year members of the Allocations Committee of the Board of Governors meet to award grants for projects across campus. Faculty, students, and staff can submit proposals for projects that advance the Colleges international, intercultural, experiential, and interdisciplinary mission.
The Committee awarded a total of $54,000 for 23 grants in fiscal year 2000. We had difficult choices to make, says Committee Chairman Jeffrey Shepard, president and CEO of Meldisco Corp. However, we were able to help all members of the Ramapo community: faculty, students, and administrators.
Examples of projects that received funding in the spring semester include:
- Computer/LCD projection equipment
- A faculty research project on the health effects of lead
- Alternative Spring Break service projects in Maryland and Oaxaca, Mexico
- Two performances in the Berrie Center (American Repertory Ballet, Peking Acrobats)
- A project to implement Learning Communities at the College
- Travel to conferences for faculty and students
