Nursing Learning Center
The nursing program has 2 designated, state of the art computer laboratories. These labs serve the educational and research needs of the students. The nursing classroom is a 40-seat computer lab.
The Nursing Learning Center on the Ramapo campus contains four fully functioning patient stations. Each of the four patient stations is connected via a VPN tunnel to the Valley Hospital dummy electronic medical record. This electronic medical record is used for clinical simulations. Students spend a part of each clinical course in the Learning Center where they practice psychomotor skills and learn how to integrate theory into practice. This has been greatly enhanced with the introduction of a patient simulator. The simulated patient is programmed with specific signs, symptoms and responses which require specific student interventions.
In addition to the Ramapo Nursing Learning Center, there is a Nursing Learning Center at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. This Nursing Learning Center contains 10 fully functioning patient stations and one patient simulator. There are 20 wireless laptops for use in the Center or classroom. The laptops can be used to access EHMC’s clinical information system. In addition, EHMC has a 10 stations computer lab as well as the medical library computer resources station.
