MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDATION BOARD OF GOVERNORS CHAIRMAN

The Ramapo College Foundation has continued to play a vital role in the College's growth. I am pleased to report that we achieved the most successful year in the Foundation's history. My colleagues and I plan to build on our record of success and raise the funds needed to support the College's many wonderful initiatives. As our mission indicates, we are committed "to provide the resources that make the difference in Ramapo College's quest for educational excellence."

The College has improved its infrastructure and, by extension, our outstanding education, thanks to several benefactor gifts this past year. In April, at the dedication ceremony for the Anisfield School of Business, Richard and Millicent Anisfield announced an additional $3 million gift, the largest in the College's history. This new gift brings their total giving to more than $6 million. Their generous contribution will be used to complete the fifth floor of the school and to support future business programs.

This summer, we anticipate completion of The Salameno Spiritual Center named after Lawrence and Theresa Salameno, who provided the lead gift, and were joined in their support by Dr. Anthony Padovano, Distinguished Professor of Literature and Philosophy, and his wife, Theresa, for whom The Padovano Peace Pavilion will be named. The McBride and Marino Meditation Rooms will be named for Pamela and Peter McBride and Anthony and Gail Marino.

Students who enroll in environmental science and policy classes, and their instructors, will gain a superb teaching and learning space in the new Sharp Sustainability Education Center scheduled for completion in May. We gratefully acknowledge the support of Sharp Corporation for their gift toward construction costs as well as their giftinkind of capital equipment.

It is always particularly gratifying to receive support from faculty and staff. You will read about the scholarships and endowments established by them throughout the pages of this magazine. In April we celebrated the completion of the Sabrin Center for Business Excellence in the Anisfield School of Business, established with a gift from Dr. Murray Sabrin, a professor of finance, and his wife, Florence.

It is incumbent upon me to underscore that the Foundation's growth would not be achievable without the support of the Board of Trustees, College administrators and our most generous donors, and of course the Board of Governors - who give so much of their time as well as financial support. I am continually moved by their generosity and commitment to Ramapo College. To our donors, your contributions are particularly significant, given the current financial climate. I'd also like to thank our students who have demonstrated compassion and concern in a broad array of outreach efforts through club activities, service learning and fraternity and sorority community events.

On behalf of the Board of Governors, I thank you for your many contributions to Ramapo College.

ROBERT TILLSLEY
