Richard and Millicent Anisfield
"My interest is in creating something lasting," said Richard Anisfield at the opening of the Anisfield Building in the spring of 2008, "and something that is important for our society." Mr. Anisfield is the former CEO and president of Kurt Versen Company, a commercial lighting manufacturer. Mr. Anisfield and his wife Millicent are strong supporters of higher education at Ramapo and in the State of New Jersey. Mrs. Anisfield is a former Trustee of Ramapo College and now serves on the Board of Governors of the Ramapo College Foundation. She also served as a Trustee at Montclair State University. The Anisfields made contributions totaling over $2 million to Ramapo College, which allowed for the creation of the Anisfield Building, an endowed faculty research fund, and an endowed scholarship for business students. The business school has been renamed in the Anisfields' honor. "The best thing I can do is support education and the most promising students, and those who might not otherwise find college accessible," Mr. Anisfield continued.
An Alumnus
In 2004 Jason and Rachel Simon created an endowed scholarship fund to benefit first-generation students at Ramapo College. Jason graduated from Ramapo in 1993 and currently is an executive in the University of California system. The scholarship fund is named in memory of Jason's grandparents, Willie and Pat Rubel. "Willie understood the challenges of adjusting to a new environment, since he immigrated to the United States during WWIII, narrowly escaping persecuting in his native Germany," Jason says. "He worked tirelessly for his family, and served as a constant source of encouragement for me throughout my time at Ramapo." Jason and Rachel have leveraged a 1:1 match from Rachel's company, AT&T, to build this endowed fund.
