The Foundation’s mission is to provide the resources that make the difference in Ramapo College’s quest for educational excellence. Review Process
The members of the Allocations Committee of the Board of Governors review all proposals and decide on award amounts. Input from Officers of the College may be requested and considered, but is not determinative. Please note that many more requests are received than can be funded, and that many requests receive only partial funding.
Final Report
Each awardee must submit a final report to the Foundation after the completion of the project. The report should be a one to two page document outlining the accomplishments of the project and lessons learned. Please include four reprints of any printed material related to the funded activity. The Foundation may provide information from the final report to the Office of Marketing and Communications for publicity purposes. Grant recipients who do not submit a final report will not be considered for future funding.
Acknowledgements
Please acknowledge the Foundation’s support in any printed material related to a funded project. The recommended wording is: “This [project] was supported by a grant from the Ramapo College Foundation.”
Submitting An Application On-Line
To submit on-line, click "Foundation Grants" from the Foundation home page, http://www.ramapo.edu/foundation/. Applicants who submit on-line must forward a hard copy of the cover page with original signatures and the letter of recommendation to the Foundation Office. Letters of recommendation may be emailed to Ellen Senese at esenese@ramapo.edu. Proposals will not be reviewed unless all parts are received in the Foundation Office by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the deadline. Please call to confirm that all parts of the proposal have been received.
General Guidelines For Preparing An Application
- Applicants are encouraged to contact Ron Kase (X-7287) or Claudia Esker (X-7374) in the Grants & Sponsored Research office to discuss the project and review application procedures.
- Include information on what makes the project innovative or unique in its field. This will help the committee better evaluate the request.
- Provide a line-item budget so that the Committee can make a well-informed evaluation. Include any revenues received or projected. Indicate if you have received support from your Unit. If you have not applied for Unit supprt, explain why.
- Attach a copy of the brochure or flyer for any conference travel request. All travel should be coach class and the best available rate and mode of transportation.
- Requests for travel should only include conference fees, transportation, and accommodations.
- Stipends for College employees will be paid through the Payroll Office. Grantees must complete the “special payment form” and secure approval signatures before work begins.
- Ramapo College student workers are paid through the Cahill Center. Grantees must meet with Dianne McNally, the Experiential Learning Coordinator before work begins.
- Equipment purchased with Foundation funding is the property of Ramapo College. Grantees must purchase and register the equipment according to Ramapo College policies and procedures. If you are unsure of these guidelines, please contact the Director of Purchasing.
- Applications may not be considered from grantees who have not completed all of their previous grant activities.
- If your project takes place in the summer, submit all reimbursement requests before June 30. Contact Stephen Warren (X-7479) if you have any questions. Grants do not carry forward into the next fiscal year.
- It is not the responsibility of the Foundation to follow up on incomplete grant applications. Please help us be a strong proponent for your project by providing a compelling, complete application.
Application Check List
Applications must contain all of the following:

A list of account codes is included with the form for your reference. Include any revenue received from your Unit or other sources, fees collected or charged, and any matching funds secured.
- Approval signatures. The Dean or unit head's signature is required. Applications from students require the appropriate Dean’s approval for academic projects or clubs, and approval from an Associate Vice President for Student Affairs for all other projects.
- Executive summary. Summarize in 100 words or less the goal, activities, and projected outcomes or significance of the project. Briefly state how the proposed project impacts the College (refer to the Priorities on page 1).
