Communicating Our Promise: Pushing Boundaries Integrated Marketing Communication Plan Launch

President Peter P. Mercer

Ramapo College of New Jersey will no longer be the state's best kept secret and we are relying on your active support to keep that promise.

As part of Founders' Day festivities the College hosted Communicating Our Promise: Pushing Boundaries Integrated Marketing Communication Plan Launch on Wednesday, November 16th. At that event the College's new Pushing Boundaries brand promise, four brand attributes, viewbook, video, marketing graphics, and a selection of comprehensive campaign materials were formally unveiled.

President Peter P. Mercer shared how the integrated plan will serve as a driving force in our strategic planning. Vice President Cathy Davey commented on how the plan aligns with the College's comprehensive fundraising campaign to Further Our Promise.  Associate Vice President Chris Romano discussed the plan's alignment with the enrollment plan and further outlined the college's new direct recruitment and image marketing campaign.

Our Pushing Boundaries Promise:

  • The outstanding and devoted faculty of Ramapo College of New Jersey excel at teaching, mentoring and preparing students to succeed personally and professionally, all within the small, picturesque campus environment usually associated with an elite college.

Our Attributes:

  1. Faculty who teach and mentor
  2. Hands-on learning and professional development that prepares
  3. A strong foundation for a lifetime of achievement
  4. The advantages of a small elite college at an affordable price

Around campus  you will notice some subtle differences. Pushing Boundaries banners that promote our brand attributes now flank our walkways. The Daily Digest features a new heading. Also, several Web pages have been updated to incorporate our new vibrant directional graphics.

Off campus, you will experience a more visible Ramapo College presence. Billboards in central and southern New Jersey are designed to raise awareness in areas where we have not historically been as visible.   Billboards along the Lincoln Tunnel and New Jersey Turnpike boast of our faculty who teach and mentor, our unique commitment to hands-on learning, and also aim to generate awareness about our graduate and adult learner programs. Tune in to hear our alumni share their success stories in radio advertisements on Z100, 1010 Wins, and 94.3 The Point. In addition, local newspapers, bus terminals, and Web sites are carrying the message that Ramapo College pushes boundaries.

We encourage you to share with us your stories that illustrate our Pushing Boundaries promise and the four attributes. Please send them to pushingboundaries@ramapo.edu.

As supporters and friends of Ramapo College of New Jersey gathered Friday evening to celebrate a $40 million capital campaign, the surprise announcement of a $3 million gift from Allendale residents Lawrence C. and Theresa Salameno helped the campaign reach its initial goal.

The gift will support renovation of the A and B Wings of the Academic Complex, endow a Center of Excellence in British Studies and a Dean's Scholarship Fund in the School of American and International Studies. In recognition of the gift, the school will be renamed the Salameno School of American and International Studies.

"This is a tremendous moment for the College," President Peter P. Mercer told the crowd. "This generous gift from longtime supporters of the College builds on a series of major gifts over the past few years that will enable Ramapo students to fulfill their promise. It is with great humility and gratitude that I thank all of you who have brought us to this point. As the campaign continues, I know we will prevail with your help."
