The Achievements page on Ramapo College's Web site has been renamed Campus Connection. This new format will still provide updates of accomplishments by faculty, staff and students and also offer an opportunity to include photographs. In addition, Campus Connection will keep readers apprised of new staff, promotions, reclassifications and retirements.

Ramapo College received the Governor's Occupational Safety and Health Award for the seventh consecutive year. This award is for preventing workplace injury and illness. The College continues to keep its lost time accident rate well below the
industry average. Gina Mayer-Costa (Environmental Health and Safety) attended a dinner May 21 to accept the award on behalf of the College.
Ramapo College won the Silver Award of Distinction for its recruitment video in the 2009 Communicator Awards. The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. The Award of Distinction is presented for projects that exceed industry standards in quality and achievement.
Gary Kettlitz, an assistant professor of management in the Anisfield School of Business for the past 13 years, died during the final week of the semester. To honor his memory, a group of faculty has started an endowed scholarship in his honor, with a goal of raising $10,000. The criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
- Any student from Ramapo College is eligible.
- The recipient must demonstrate an interest in social justice and a desire to make the world a better place.
- The recipient should have experience or be experiencing some sort of financial hardship or significant illness.
- Preference will be given to a student majoring in management or any healthcare-related field.

Ramapo College of New Jersey Foundation c/o Gary Kettlitz and drop it off in the Foundation office or give it to Alex Olbrecht (ASB) or Eddie Saiff (TAS).

George Gonpu (ASB) was appointed deputy minister for Budget, Ministry of Finance in the Republic of Liberia. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Liberia’s president, welcomed Gonpu’s ability to make a “meaningful contribution as we strive to move our country forward in a process aimed at enhancing peace, reconciliation and development.” He is currently on a leave of absence. Sydney Jenkins (CA) reports that the Haitian Art Society Conference and Hyppolite Museum of the Americas exhibition in Washington, D.C. this month features “La Cueilleuse de Fleurs,” an oil painting by Hector Hyppolite donated to the College by Jonathan Demme. (photo right)
Stephen Roma (HR) is completing a two-year term representing the New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware region on the national advisory board of the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium. (photo left)
Donna Mainardi Singer (ITS) has spent the last year focusing on Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Planning. She attended several training sessions including Continuity of Operations Training, Effective Business Continuity Planning and the Disaster Recovery International Institute’s Business Continuity Management for Advanced Professionals course. She also passed a qualifying certification test to become an associate business continuity professional. In addition, she facilitated a business continuity constituency group at Educause 2008, presented a session at Sungard/SCT Summit 2009, “Business Continuity: How to Begin?” and participated in a mock disaster exercise this spring.

Ruma Sen (CA) writes that eight students presented their papers at the Undergraduate Poster Session atthe Eastern Communication Association conference in Philadelphia in April. The students are Heather Catrambone, Kaitlyn Haitz, Freddy Quinones, Eileen Ramos, Caitlin DePue, Fiorelli Ann Salvo, Joey Lewandowski and Anabel Tonkovic. In addition to Sen, CA faculty involved were Patricia Keeton and Kelly Dolak. (photo right)

Anthony Casilli has joined Ramapo College as a housekeeping supervisor.
| SAVE THE DATE |
The Ramapo College Foundation will sponsor the 2009 TD Bank Summer Concert featuring the best of rock and pop tribute bands. The concerts will take place at the Bandshell. In the case of rain, the concerts will take place in the Bradley Center Arena.
The line up includes Bargain (the Who tribute band) on July 9, Neil and The Diamonds on July 16, 2U (U2 tribute band) on July 23 and Asbury Fever on July 30 (covering Bruce Springsteen and other Jersey Shore music). Shows begin at 8 p.m. The July 9 concert will include a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. (Rain date scheduled for July 16). Parking is $5 per vehicle, and admission is free. Info: ext. 7179.
