Faculty Staff Achievements
The Web Marketing Association presented its 2006 Webaward for outstanding achievement in Website development to Ramapo College. Recognized for their efforts were Web team members STEPHEN SCHUR, PATRICIA WILLIAMS, ROBERT JOSIC and students CHRISTOPHER DONNELLY and AARON KRUGLYAK.
HANK BORDOWITZ (CA) has two book projects in the works. “Dirty Little Secrets of the Record Business: Why So Much Music You Hear Sucks” will be released in January by Chicago Review Press/A Cappella Books. Next summer, CRP will put out a second edition of his acclaimed 1998 book, “Bad Moon Rising: The Unauthorized History of Creedence Clearwater Revival,” that will contain five new chapters. JANET RITT CHOCKY (AIS) recently published “100, (YES!) 100, Job Search Tips.” It is a no-nonsense guide to the job search process. She is currently working on her next book, one geared toward college graduates and their job search.
ROBIN KELLER (CCIS) will exhibit her work in the “City Without Walls” exhibit in the Potter Library Galleries beginning November 7. This is a juried exhibition of miniature works by New Jersey artists and the second year Keller’s work has been accepted in this regional show. Her paintings are ‘people’scapes, reflecting her life at Ramapo. The works in the show are part of a collection of Commencement Day paintings.
BEHZAD YAGHMAIAN (SSHS), author of “Embracing the Infidel: Stories of Muslim Migrants on the Journey West,” was a guest on Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Here On Earth: Radio Without Borders,” during which he discussed with host Jean Feraca the rise in the number of Muslim immigrants to the U.S.
ROSETTA D’ANGELO (AIS) is pleased to announce that two students minoring in Italian, CHRISTINA BANDINO and CHERISE GORDON, have been selected to attend the National Italian American Foundation’s 31st Anniversary and Gala in Washington, DC this month. Supreme Court Judge Judge Samuel Alito Jr. will be honored. JASON HECHT (ASB) reports that student IVAN IVANOV, a dual math and finance major, presented their co-authored paper, “Bond Immunization and Exchange Rate Risk: Some Further Considerations” at the 38th Annual Money, Macro, and Financial [ return to top ] |





This summer, ROSETTA D’ANGELO (AIS), together with her co-author, Barbara Zazeck of Clemson University, conducted research in archives in Italy and interviews with partisans for the book they are completing, “Resisting Bodies: Italian Partisan Women During World War II.” She also presented “New narrative styles, national identity, and ‘marvelous realism’ in the poetic tales of contemporary Haitian women’s writers” at Conference Congreso International de literatura: Arte e Cultura en la Globalizacion at the University of Buenos Aires. The professor, along with a MALS student KELLY BUCHTA, presented “Italian Women in Trans National Activism” at the University of Arizona at Tuscon. She also was invited to read her poems at the Italian-American poetry festival held at Hofstra University.
SANDRA MARTIN (AIS) published “Hispanic Culture through Art: El español a través de las artes visuales” in the September issue of “Hispania” published by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. She was asked to pen the article based on a presentation she gave at the organization’s conference in July 2005.
JILLIAN TODD WEISS (SSHS) is working with the New York City Department of Homeless Services on a pilot project to implement the department’s new policy regarding transgender shelter clients. The pilot involves the evaluation of 300 shelter personnel in regard to their knowledge, attitudes and skills in addressing the needs of transgender clients, training those personnel on the new department policy, administering a six-week post-test and using the data to evaluate the policy’s effectiveness.
