There have been 4 newly reported confirmed cases of Influenza type A, two employees and two students. Of the earlier reported cases, the 6 students have returned to their regular schedules.

The college has been notified that one commuter student has tested positive for Influenza Type A and have the symptoms associated with H1N1 Influenza (there is currently no test that can conclusively confirm this strain). This individual is under doctor’s care and will remain home until fever free for 24 hours.

There have been no new Influenza Type A or symptoms associated with H1N1 Influenza (there is currently no test that can conclusively confirm this strain) information to report. The four Influenza Type A cases that were reported earlier have all recovered and have returned to their daily scheduled activities.
September 22, 2009
The college has been notified that two undergraduate resident students (roommates) have tested positive for Influenza Type A and have the symptoms associated with H1N1 Influenza (there is currently no test that can conclusively confirm this strain). These individuals are now home under doctor’s care and will remain home until fever free for 24 hours. Those in close contact with these students have been notified and are taking appropriate measures.
Students experiencing flu-like symptoms should maintain their distance from other individuals and immediately call Student Health Services. Students who have flu-like symptoms and a fever should go home if possible or be isolated to help minimize the spread of infection to others. Faculty and staff who are experiencing flu-like symptoms should contact their primary medical provider.
To prevent the spread of H1N1, please be diligent in hand washing and covering your mouth when you sneeze. (Sneeze into your elbow). To prevent the spread of germs hand sanitizers have been placed in all computer labs and in high traffic areas where there are no restrooms in close proximity. Hand Sanitizer Locations (PDF)
