16 Credit Hours
To earn a certificate, a student is required to complete four credit-bearing courses (16 credits) within the Anisfield School of Business. These courses provide a basic, but broad business foundation in the areas of accounting, marketing and management and an opportunity for further study in business law, information systems, or finance. The actual courses are part of the ASB Professional Core curriculum.
Students must attend at least two of several personal effectiveness seminars that will be offered to program participants. These non-credit seminars will cover such topics as time management, negotiation skills, effective communication, career networking and effective job search strategies. The seminars are offered in the summer on Monday evenings.
Summer Sessions
It is expected that most students will complete their course work during the summer sessions when sufficient sections of each course will be offered at convenient times. To meet the needs of working students, at least one section of each course will be offered either online or in an evening timeslot of the summer sessions. By taking one course in each summer session, a student should be be able to complete the certificate program in as little as two summers. An ambitious student could even complete it in one summer, by taking both day or online and evening courses during both sessions.
