For Middle School Students Entering 7th & 8th Grades
The Ramapo Explorers Middle School Academic Camp focuses on hands-on learning activities while having fun! The program is for middle school children entering 7th and 8th grades. Students in 6th grade may apply by special recommendation only. The academic courses are taught by certified middle school teachers and are supported by trained college-age counselors in a student-teacher ratio of 24-to-1 (or less) and an activities supervision ratio of 12-to-1.
Dates: Monday-Friday, July 12-23, 2010
Location: Ramapo College of New Jersey, Mahwah
Times: Full Day (9 a.m.-4 p.m.), Half Day (9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m.), Individual Class Options, Early Drop-off (7:30-9:00 a.m.), Late Pick-up (4-6 p.m.)

Explore Earth Science (hands-on activities and field studies)

Would you enjoy investigating a local pond and stream for water quality, temperature, pH, organisms, and water velocity? Do you know what happens when an asteroid impacts the Earth? How do we make a topographic model of Hawaii? Why are glaciers important? How are sedimentary rocks made? Metamorphic? Igneous? What do sands from around the world look like under a microscope? Our burgeoning scientists will explore the Earth every morning on the beautiful 300-acre Ramapo College campus!

Explore Creative Writing
Academic Complex, A-218 (except 6/13-15 will be in E-217)
Use your imagination to explore the rich landscape of creative writing. Unlock your inner poet. Learn how to write for a Hollywood screenplay. Create short stories about exciting new fantasy worlds for your readers to enjoy. Present your work in class, and receive rich critiques from your teacher and peers. The feedback will help you improve your writing! Whatever genre of writing is explored each day, it will be fun and engaging for the aspiring writer in you!

Dramatic ArtsInFusion™ (Berrie Center for the Performing Arts, Adler Theater) 
In the words of Arts Educator/Program Developer, Diane Acciavatti, “In Acting, there is no wrong or right; there is only The Truth.” This ‘one of a kind' dramatic arts program allows students the opportunity to learn and develop their individual acting style through specially designed exercises in improvisation and movement, character development, vocal dynamics and articulation, body linguistics, musical interpretation, and the written arts of self-scripted monologues and scenes. All will have the ‘freedom' to explore a variety of techniques and develop their own; thus, enhancing their individual talents and unique personalities! On the final day, an exciting Student Performance Showcase awaits all!

Multimedia Computer Skills
Academic Complex, A-218
Get creative with digital photos! Learn new computer software and technology! Tap into Google Images, Google Picasa, and surf the Web! Learn to use iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD to make dramatic presentations of your camp experience or a theme of your choice to share with family and friends. Sure to be a long treasured experience for students who will be eager to showcase their creations! What's learned will spark imagination and creativity, the seeds of innovation when one combines art with technology.

$790 - Full-day, 2-week program from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
$25 - Registration Fee (non-refundable)
Early Drop-off and Late Pick-up: $10 each per day
*If space permits:
$450 - Half-day, 2-week program from 9:00 a.m.-Noon or 1:00-4:00 p.m.
$165 - Individual Class Options (each 50 minute program)
*Half-day option and individual class selections are by space availability only. Notification is made after full day program is finalized.
The College reserves the right to change costs, dates and procedures at its discretion.

Cancellation Policy
Ramapo College reserves the right to cancel any program or course due to limited enrollment, lack of facilities or unanticipated unavailability of faculty. Full tuition and registration fee will be fully refunded when a course or program is cancelled.
Teachers/Instructors & Daily Schedule
Ramapo College reserves the right to substitute teachers/instructors and alter the daily schedule if necessary.
Refund Policy
Refunds for withdrawals from the program will be issued only when notification is submitted in writing to the Center for Innovative and Professional Learning, as follows:
- 100% refund, less a $100 cancellation fee, will be given until May 15
- 50% refund will be given until June 15
- No refund will be given after June 15
Medication
No medication may be administered by any Ramapo Explorers counselor or teacher. Arrangements must be requested through the Center for Innovative and Professional Learning via the Student Health Services Health Form.
