About the Major

The Music Major has a distinctly contemporary focus.  There are concentrations offered in Music Studies, Music Performance, Music Production, and Music Industry.  Courses are offered in popular music, African-American, traditional, contemporary and world musics, vocal and instrumental performance, music theater, digital recording, electronic music, film music, song writing and music industry.

There are active vocal, instrumental and music theater ensembles, including the Ramapo Chorale, Gospel Chorus, CantaNova, a number of student-run bands, and opportunities for private instruction and public performance.  Music students can also take advantage of the digital music lab and opportunities provided in radio, film, video, new media, web design, communication, business, theater, dance and musical theater.  Numerous exciting internship opportunities are available, many with major studios and entertainment companies in New York City, as well as other valuable experiential resources.

Students completing this program will receive a B.A. degree. A minor in Music is available.
