Berrie Center: Spring 2008 Programs and Events / May Box Office Hours:
Saturday, May 3 Sinatra, Shadows, and Stars is an outstanding evening of dance featuring Twyla Tharp's Sinatra Suite, a duet choreographed to five songs by Frank Sinatra. Also featured will be two new works by the Company's Artistic Director, Graham Lustig, and international choreographer, Lisa de Ribere. Shadows in the Attic by Graham Lustig is a new work inspired by the powerful spirit of survival expressed by the family of Anne Frank and their extraordinarily brave Dutch friends whose daily help was essential to the family's safety. Starry Nights by Lisa de Ribere is a part of American Repertory Ballet's commissioning program, Dancing Through the Ceiling, which promotes classically-based women choreographers. De Ribere's piece about the creative muse is inspired by three paintings by Van Gogh, Starry Night Over the Rhone; 1888, The Cafe Terrasse, Arles, at Night; 1888, and The Starry Night; 1889. Rounding out the evening will be Barcarolles, a delightful ballet inspired by the lilting melodic style of traditional Venetian rowing songs, choreographed by Graham Lustig. Seating Category #1 / #2 / #3 Orchestra Balcony Tickets: Adults $24/20/16; Children (Under 17): $12; Seniors and Ramapo Affiliates: 5% off regular ticket prices.
