Planned Giving Information and Resources

Current fund raising priorities include:

Unrestricted funds -- Unrestricted gifts increase the Foundation’s ability to implement its mission of providing funds for scholarship, faculty development, and other College projects.  They also allow the Foundation to help the College meet unexpected needs, or take advantage of unexpected opportunities.

Anisfield School of Business -- Major opportunities exist for donors to have a permanent impact on the Anisfield School as it moves into its new home and seeks AACSB accreditation.  Leadership gifts to the School will be recognized through naming opportunities such as the Dean's Suite, faculty offices, Student Lounge, and the tiered classrooms.  In addition endowment gifts are being sought to augment the School's scholarship offerings and programs.  The Anisfield Building will also house naming opportunities in the nursing program, the graduate programs, and the international programs.

Sustainability Education Center -- The Sustainability Education Center is planned as a model structure for sustainable practices in building design and building operation.  The Center will serve as a hub for educational programs for area K-12 children and their teachers, Ramapo College environmental students and faculty, and people in the larger community including government leaders, educators, and business groups.  Faculty and staff in the Center will work closely with staff of the Meadowlands Environment Center to design and implement programming.

Salameno Spiritual Center -- In 2008 Ramapo College will create a space on campus dedicated to reflection, meditation, and peace.  A site has been chosen adjacent to Cameron Pond, and a cluster of buildings has been designed with meeting space and space for individual reflection.  By spring 2007, private foundations and individuals had contributed over $800,000 toward this $1.2 million project.

Endowment Gifts -- Endowment gifts are the most enduring way to leave a lasting legacy at Ramapo College, while providing funds for the people and programs of the College into the future.  Endowment gifts are invested in a diverse portfolio of securities and bonds, and only the interest and appreciation are used for expenditure.  The original gift cannot be spent.  The minimum required to start an endowed fund at Ramapo College is $10,000 and donors can add to the endowment at any time.  An endowment can be named in any way a donor chooses, thus recognizing a business or individual in perpetuity.  Endowed funds can benefit student scholarships, faculty awards, College programs, or one of the five schools.  Five percent of the endowment's total fair market value is used for this purpose each year.
