US News Ranks Ramapo College Number One
Among Public Comprehensive Colleges in the North

in the 2007 edition of America’s Best Colleges, released by U.S.News & World Report, Ramapo College of New Jersey continues to be ranked number one among regional public comprehensive colleges. This is the third consecutive year U.S.News & World Report ranked the institution as number one.

In the listing, “The top public comprehensive colleges,” which is subdivided into four geographical quadrants, Ramapo College is first among comprehensive colleges in the north.

In addition, Ramapo College is listed in the top tier (in eighth place) among all comprehensive colleges in the north (public and private). Schools are ranked based on criteria such as freshman retention rate, graduation rate, class size, student/faculty ratio and student selectivity, among others.

Under the heading, “Key criteria in judging schools, “Ramapo College is included on the short list of schools with the lowest acceptance rate. Ramapo accepted just 41% percent of those who applied.

N.J. State Legislature and the John Templeton Foundation
Ramapo College is designated as New Jersey's Public Liberal Arts College by the New Jersey State Legislature and is recognized by the John Templeton Foundation as one of America's "character-building colleges," because of its emphasis on service learning and student leadership. Ramapo College of New Jersey is the only college in the state to ever receive this designation.
