Each year more than 700 transfer students enroll at Ramapo College of New Jersey. These students enter from more than 135 colleges nationwide including 35 New Jersey colleges. Approximately 60 percent of these students enroll from two-year colleges. Ramapo also enrolls transfer students from countries all over the world.

Official transcripts from all prior college level course work should be sent. Your official high school transcript is also required if you have attempted less than 45 credits.
3. Transfer Candidate's Form
You are required to be in good social standing at your previous college in order to be admitted to Ramapo College. Please have the Transfer Candidate's Form (PDF) completed and returned to us by the Dean of Students at your previous college.
4. Letter of Recommendation
It is suggested that applicants submit one letter of recommendation from a school counselor, teacher or other individual who can attest to your abilities. There is no required standardized format for the letters. Additional letters of recommendation will NOT be considered. (Nursing applicants are required to submit two letters).
5. List of Current Coursework
If you are currently taking courses, please provide a copy of your schedule or list of courses in which you are currently enrolled.
Criteria for General Admissions
Each application for transfer admission is reviewed individually and holistically.
It is strongly recommended that Transfer students have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at their prior college(s) when applying for admission. Transfer students with less than 45 earned credits are also required to submit their high school transcript. All transfer students must submit a Transfer Candidates Form that verifies they are good social standing at any / all previous institution(s) attended in the last three years. Ramapo College will not consider students who are not in good social standing at any / all previous institution(s) attended in the last three years.
Criteria for Admission to Nursing Program
Generic Nursing is available in the fall semester only. All applications and above mentioned credentials must be received by March 1 for consideration in the following fall semester.
Very limited seating is available in our competitive Generic Nursing Program. Students who meet the following criteria will be considered for admission:

All science prerequisites are required to have been taken within the last 5 years.

Criteria for Admission to More Selective Programss
Biology is a popular major for transfer students with limited seating. Transfer students applying for Biology should have at least a 2.75 cumulative grade point average. Social Work Program
New transfer students are not formally admitted to the program at the time of application. After completing all required pre-requisite courses an application is made directly through the social work department. This process typically begins just prior to the start of junior year. Anisfield School of Business
Transfer applicants must have completed 48 credits with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 to be directly admitted to the Anisfield School of Business. Students with less than 48 credits may be considered for provisional acceptance and will be reconsidered upon the completion of 48 credits.

Each student passes through three overlapping phases in preparing for a degree: General Education course work, a school core program, and a major program of study. This format applies to all students, and is guided by the College's academic expectations and graduation requirements.

Double counting: In many instances, a course may fulfill more than one requirement. A course may count in a major and/or minor and/or General Education and/or School core. Although the course may fulfill two requirements, its credit value does not double.
Students who complete an A.A. or A.S degree from a New Jersey community college are able to fulfill their general education requirements for a four-year Ramapo degree.
