Scholarships

Ramapo College students can apply for scholarships available through the Office of the Provost and through the Ramapo College Foundation. Other scholarship opportunities are posted outside the Office of Financial Aid (E-210).

Merit Scholarships Available Through the Office of the Provost

For awards available through the Office of the Provost, students must have a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and 24 Ramapo credits. Students must submit an application form, essay, and letter of recommendation from a faculty member or employer. The application form is available in Room 101 of the Birch Mansion.

Scholarships Available Through the Ramapo College Foundation

Scholarships are available through the Ramapo College Foundation thanks to the generosity of alumni, faculty, and friends of the College.

In general, awards available through the Foundation are open to full- and part-time students and international students. Students may apply for more than program as long as they meet the eligibility requirements. Students who are already receiving scholarship aid may apply for these awards unless otherwise indicated in the application.

Application forms include specific criteria, and are available as PDF files. Paper copies of applications are available in the Foundation offices in Room 111 of the Birch Mansion.

  • For students who are committed to community service and the care and education of young children.

Evelyn L. Atwater TAA Scholarship, $1,500 for Fall 2008
Female undergraduates who:

  • Are preparing for a career in business or industry
  • Demonstrate a commitment to community service
  • Are currently enrolled as full time students and plan to attend Ramapo full time in the 2008-2009 academic year
  • Have a GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Contribute to their own support

  • For international business or international studies majors

  • For EOF seniors with 3.00+ GPA and community service
  • To reduce winter or summer housing charges, or loans

Footstar/Meldisco Scholarship, $4,800

  • For ASB juniors or seniors
  • Recipients must complete a co-op at Footstar

Sidney J. Geltman Memorial Scholarship, 5 @ $400

  • For EOF juniors or seniors planning to continue their education in graduate school

The Robert Giaimo Memorial Scholarship, $1000
The Scholarship is Open to Undergraduates who are:

  • contemporary arts theater majors interested in design and technical theater.
  • In good academic standing
  • Sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Not receiving other significant scholarship support

  • For children or spouses of service men and women killed in a recent conflict


Willie Rubel Memorial Scholarship, $950

  • Students must demonstrate leadership and involvement in campus life
  • For first generation college students
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA

  • For students who demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality of life for disadvantaged or marginalized people.

Angelo Tarallo Memorial Scholarship, $1,000

  • For a student interested in going into the fields of international business or international law
  • Recipient must demonstrate competence in the English language

May H. Weis Environmental Internship/Scholarship, $8,900

  • For a student interested in environmental education
  • Includes a paid summer internship at the Weis Ecology Center ($1,500), book stipend ($400), and tuition for the 2007-2008 academic year
  • Recipient selected after an interview with the Sanctuary Director of the Weis Ecology Center in Ringwood, NJ

Other Scholarship Opportunities

Outside organizations have made scholarships available to eligible Ramapo students

Lechner Scholarship, $1,240

  • Sponsored by the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions
  • For NJ residents who will be juniors or seniors in the 2008-2009 academic year
  • For students majoring in environmental science or environmental studies and a 3.00 GPA or higher
  • Applicants must have demonstrated an "activist role in the preservation of open space, wildlife, or water resources of the State of New Jersey"
  • Deadline is April 18, 2008

Oak Ridge National Laboratory

  • Students interested in conducting paid research with the U.S. Department of Energy may apply for one of four programs.
  • Deadline is February 1, 2008.

Freehold Soil Conservation District Scholarships, 3 @ $2,000

  • Three scholarships will be awarded in summer 2008
  • For Middlesex or Monmouth County residents
  • Applicants must be entering junior or senior year in fall 2008
  • Applicants must be majoring in an environmentally-related field
  • Deadline is April 11, 2008
