Undergraduate Admissions: Requirements for Non-Degree Seeking Students

Ramapo College welcomes students who wish to take courses as a Non-Degree seeking student.

Are you someone who:

  • Wishes to take courses to help with job skills or for personal enrichment
  • Never attended college but wishes to try college by taking a course at Ramapo
  • Currently attends another college or university and wishes to take a class at Ramapo as a visiting student
  • Already has a Bachelor's Degree but wants to take a course to prepare for graduate study, personal enrichment or teacher evaluation

If you are, then Ramapo College is a great place to start.

Non-Degree seeking students:

All non-degree students may take a maximum of 24 credits of undergraduate coursework before applying for admission to the college.  Non-degree students are considered “Part Time” and may only take a total of 8 credits per semester.  A $25.00 non-refundable application fee will automatically be billed to all non-degree students upon registration.

To qualify for in-state tuition, first-time registrants must provide proof of ONE FULL YEAR of residency in New Jersey.  Failure to provide proof will result in out-of-state charges.  The following constitutes proof of residency:

  • Valid NJ DRIVER’S LICENSE (over 1 year)
  • Valid NJ VOTER REGISTRATION CARD (over 1 year)

*If neither form of ID can be produced, two documents that reflect permanent domicile in the state of New Jersey for one year prior to enrollment will be considered.

Undergraduate Non-Degree Seeking Students

Undergraduate non-degree students must meet the following requirements:

Rising High School Seniors

Currently enrolled high school seniors who wish to attend Ramapo College must meet the following requirements:

Visiting Students

Students from other colleges/universities may attend Ramapo College as a visiting student.  Visiting students who wish to register for courses that require prerequisite(s) must provide transcripts to the individual instructor or convener for permission to enroll.

General Post-Baccalaureate

General post-baccalaureate students should meet the following requirement:

Post-Baccalaureate Student Teacher Education

Ramapo College welcomes students who have a college degree whose goal is to obtain teacher certification from the New Jersey Department of Education.  In order to begin this program you need to:

  • Complete Student Information Form and submit it to the Teacher Education Office (PDF)
  • Submit official copies of all college transcripts verifying your degree status to the Teacher Education Program (a 2.75 GPA on your most recent degree transcript is required)
  • Provide a copy of a negative Mantoux (TB) test
  • Complete the Praxis I Reading, Writing, and Math tests with a minimum score of 170 in all three sections (Go to www.ETS.org for information about Praxis I)
