Undergraduate Admissions: Requirements for
College Honors Program Students
Mission StatementThe Ramapo College Honors Program is a community of faculty and students dedicated to intellectual, creative and moral engagement. Honors students seek excellence through continual guidance and a distinctive curriculum of critical thinking, intercultural and international understanding, experiential learning, service, and interdisciplinary studies. The end of the program is the beginning of an enriched and accomplished life. Our College Honors Program offers a distinctive four-course curriculum designed to be completed over four semesters but with flexibility for majors requiring accommodation. In addition, complementary co-curricular activities designed for students who are intellectually independent and creative provide opportunities for civic engagement.. Ideas are exchanged in and out of class. Future studies and professional plans are encouraged through conference and writing opportunities, as well as a Senior Project in the Major. The College Honors Lounge provides a computer lab and community space for students to work and collaborate with one another and with faculty members. College Honors Students choosing to live on campus are housed with other scholar students during their first year at Ramapo. We invite all who have the aspiration, potential and passion for discovery to apply. Application RequirementsBecause freedom from extrinsic rewards is valued in a College Honors student, grade point average and entrance examination score are only one measure of assessing the intellectual, creative and moral engagement of applicants. Application for admission into the College Honors Program is a separate process from undergraduate admissions to Ramapo College, and any scholarship or special admission process. |
