Purpose

Graduates of the M.S.N. (Nursing Education) Program offered Ramapo College of New Jersey (RCNJ), are prepared to serve in institutions of higher education as faculty on tenure-track or non tenure-track lines. Graduates are prepared to serve as faculty at both health care institutions and undergraduate levels. These graduates are able to:

M.S.N. PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

1. Apply knowledge synthesized from nursing science, basic sciences, social sciences, educational theory, and humanities to support the practice of nursing education.

2. Demonstrate critical/reflective thinking in teaching strategies; judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing education.

3. Implement outcomes-based teaching-learning strategies in providing nursing education.

4. Incorporate evolving information systems and technology into the delivery and evaluation of nursing education.

5. Demonstrate leadership/advocacy role in the delivery of nursing education, incorporating social, spiritual, economic, legal, ethical, and political factors.

6. Act as a role model in providing consultation to nurses, educators, other health care professionals, and consumers.

7. Initiate planned change within nursing educational systems following appropriate analysis.

8. Engage in scholarly activities which demonstrate intellectual inquiry, research and publication.

9. Function in leadership roles at all levels of institutional governance

10. Model professional behaviors by participating in professional organizations and engaging in lifelong learning

11. Incorporate ethical and legal accountability in decision-making for nursing education
