Advisement: Good advisement is essential for a rewarding college career. It provides an opportunity for students to develop decision-making skills through meaningful conversation with their advisors about their academic plans. At Ramapo, the Advisement Center offers access to a wide range of advisement and informational services. Professional Advisors provide one-on-one guidance for students who have not yet decided on a major, intervention for those in academic difficulty, pre-graduation General Education audits, and special assistance for returning adult students and transfer students.

Who is Your Advisor?

  • Students with less than 32 credits who have had First Year Seminar should contact their First Year Seminar Instructor for advisement both first and second semesters.

  • Students with less than 32 credits without a First Year Seminar advisor are assigned to the Advisement Center. During Priority Registration, the professional advisors post appointment sheets outside their offices. To make an appointment, clearly write your name in a time slot.

  • Evening/Saturday students who are undecided or have less than 32 credits are also assigned to the Advisement Center.

  • If you have a major and more than 32 credits ,you are advised by faculty in your school. Contact your school or major convener for evening appointment accommodations.

  • Sophomores , Juniors, and Seniors who have declared a major are assigned a faculty advisor in their Schools. Check outside the School's main office for advisor assignments, or ask the Unit Secretary.

  • Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who have not yet declared a major are assigned to the Advisement Center.
